README.txt for picky version 2.6 18 Dec 2014

Picky is a simple "C" program for validating ASCII text files.
It is designed to run under UNIX-like systems but it runs fine
on Windows although the default mode is UNIX. You must use the
option -d to switch mode to DOS/Windows for DOS/Windows files.

The following files are included in the "picky.zip" file

picky.c The "C" source code for picky.
picky.exe The DOS/Windows command line executable.
picky.txt The picky "man page" in plain ASCII text.
  README.txt This DOS/Windows text file.

INSTALLATION

For your use, just copy the small "picky.exe" file to some
directory you have write privileges to and ensure that that
the directory is in your PATH. First, extract the files in
the "picky.zip" file to a directory named "picky". Then try

  >picky -v -d picky.c *.txt

and when you have finished testing the program move it with

  >move picky.exe "C:\bin"

for example, if "C:\bin" is in your PATH. Remember that the
program is a command line executable run from "cmd.exe" and
use option "-d" when working with DOS/Windows files.

UNINSTALLATION

To uninstall, delete "picky.exe" from where you moved it
to and remove the "picky.zip" file and the "picky" folder.
